Stream flowing into the sea west of Câmara de Lobos, near whose mouth a landslide on 4 March 1930 drove the sea up the ravine and killed about twenty people.

A watercourse that flows into the ocean west of the town (vila) of Câmara de Lobos (‘seals’ den’). Near its mouth, on 4 March 1930, a great landslide occurred which violently drove the sea up the mouth of the stream; the backwash swept away about twenty people, who met a tragic death there. A considerable part of this stream is also known as the Ribeira da Caixa.
