The Ribeira do Vigário is a stream flowing into the sea west of Câmara de Lobos; part of it is also called ribeira da Caixa. Near its mouth a landslide on 4 March 1930 drove the sea up the ravine and killed about twenty people; one note dates the landslide to 1929.
