Modest bust of João Fernandes Vieira inaugurated in 1924 on Avenida Arriaga and moved nine years later to the Jardim Municipal.
– On the initiative of Dr Abel Capitolino Baptista, a modest monument to this illustrious Madeiran was raised in the former Praça da Constituição (‘Constitution Square’), now Avenida Arriaga, and inaugurated on 11 May 1924. Nine years later the bust and its plinth were moved to the Jardim Municipal (‘municipal garden’), where they stand at present.
