An inhabited locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Monte (‘hill’). It takes its name from the chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Livramento (Our Lady of Deliverance) that stands there. It was built at the behest of Inácio Ferreira Pinto in 1684 and rebuilt a century later by João José Bettencourt de Freitas, and it is an entailed foundation (instituição vincular, a morgado or capela). In the same locality there is a chapel consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Sagrado Coração de Jesus), built a few years ago by Father Jorge de Faria e Castro.
