Chapel of St Francis Borgia built in 1760 by D. Francisco de Vasconcelos at Cruz da Guarda, Porto da Cruz, correcting the 'Saudades' attribution to St Francis Xavier.
The chapel that Dom Francisco de Vasconcelos had built in 1760 in the locality (sítio) of Cruz da Guarda (‘cross of the guard’), in the parish (freguesia) of Porto da Cruz (‘harbour of the cross’), next to the houses he owned there, was dedicated to St Francis Borgia, not to St Francis Xavier, as the Saudades states. The deed is dated 2 May of that year.
