The popular name for Madeira's south coast east of Funchal, covering the municipalities of Santa Cruz and Machico except the north-coast parish of Porto da Cruz.

This name is given to the southern coast of Madeira lying east of Funchal. It covers all the parishes (freguesias) that form the municipalities of Santa Cruz (‘Holy Cross’) and Machico, with the exception of the parish of Porto da Cruz, which lies on the island’s north coast.
