A locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Santo da Serra (‘the saint of the uplands’). It has a small house that can shelter those passing through, and it is also where the waters of the Levada da Serra (‘upland channel’), which irrigates the parishes of Caniço, São Gonçalo and Santa Maria Maior, are separated into their own channel. As far as Lombo da Raiz (‘root ridge’) these waters run together with those of the Levada do Juncal (‘rush-bed channel’), destined for the parishes of Santo da Serra, Água de Pena and Santa Cruz, and with those of the Levada Nova do Furado (‘new channel of the tunnel’), which waters the lands of the parish of Santa Cruz.
