Inhabited locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Santo António (‘St Anthony’), Funchal. Marcos Braga, one of the earliest settlers of Madeira, held sesmaria (royal land grant to settlers on condition of cultivation) land there, which his grandson Domingos Braga turned into an entailed foundation (instituição vincular, a morgado or capela). The present representative of this house is Dr Remígio Barreto.
