Former name (1896–1910) of the road between the parish church of Santo António and the Ribeira, honouring Luís de Bettencourt Miranda, long-serving secretary of the Funchal council.
From 19 January 1896 until 27 October 1910 this was the name of the road between the parish church of Santo António (‘St Anthony’) and the Ribeira (‘stream’). Commander Luís de Bettencourt Miranda was born in Funchal on 16 December 1856 and died there on 17 July 1921. For more than 30 years he served first as an official and then as secretary of the Council, posts in which he rendered excellent service to the municipality.
