Main article St Maurus (chapels) Describes the chapels dedicated to Santo Amaro in Madeira, chiefly the fifteenth-century chapel in Santo António parish founded by Garcia Homem de Sousa, son-in-law of Zargo, together with those at Lombada dos Esmeraldos and Santa Cruz.

Santo Amaro is a locality in the parish of Santo António, Funchal, where the oldest Santo Amaro chapel stands. The chapel was founded in the fifteenth century by Garcia Homem de Sousa, son-in-law of Zargo, whose estate this was and who built a fortified manor there to defend himself from his brothers-in-law. The quinta was charged with an oil bequest.
