Rua da Mouraria is a Funchal street linking Rua da Carreira to Largo de São Pedro; its name recalls the former Moorish quarter. Renamed Rua do Dr. Sequeira in 1917 and later restored to its original name, it houses the former Carvalhal palace with the municipal museum, archive and library, as well as the house of the Clube Internacional do Funchal.
