An inhabited locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of São Martinho (‘St Martin’), which took its name from the chapel of Nossa Senhora das Virtudes (Our Lady of Virtues) that stands there. It was built in 1661 at the behest of Francisco de Vasconcelos Bettencourt and rebuilt around the middle of the 19th century. In the same locality stands the chapel of St Anne (Santana), whose founder and year of construction we do not know.
