Ribeira de João Gomes
The João Gomes stream in Funchal rises in the Serra do Poiso, receives the Ribeira das Cales and was once called Ribeira de Nossa Senhora do Calhau.
It rises in the Serra do Poiso (‘resting place’), and the Ribeira das Cales flows into it. In former times it was also known as the Ribeira de Nossa Senhora do Calhau (‘Our Lady of Calhau’).
