Funchal street linking Rua da Carreira with Rua das Cruzes, named in 1895 in honour of the poet Manuel Caetano Pimenta de Aguiar.

This is the public thoroughfare linking Rua da Carreira (‘track’), or Rua do Dr. Vieira, with Rua das Cruzes, or Rua de João Joaquim de Freitas. It received the name by which it is known, in honour of the poet Manuel Caetano Pimenta de Aguiar, at a session of the Municipal Council on 24 October 1895.

The Madeiran poet Manuel Caetano Pimenta de Aguiar lived opposite Rua da Bela Vista, in the building that today belongs to the heirs of Councillor (conselheiro, honorary title of the royal council) Manuel José Vieira (1921).
