Inhabited locality in Jardim do Mar parish with the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade and manor of the Couto Cardoso entail, founded 1730 and rebuilt 1825.
An inhabited locality in the parish (freguesia) of Jardim do Mar (‘garden by the sea’), where stands the chapel of Our Lady of Pity (Nossa Senhora da Piedade), with an adjoining manor house, belonging to the entailed house (casa vinculada) of the Couto Cardoso family. It was founded in 1730 by João do Couto Cardoso, holder of the entail (morgado), and rebuilt by his successor Francisco João de Vasconcelos de Couto Cardoso in 1825.
