The locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Ribeira Brava (‘wild river’) known today as Lombo da Apresentação (‘ridge of the Presentation’) took its name from the chapel that stood there, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Apresentação (Our Lady of the Presentation). It was founded by Isabel Fernandes Tavares in 1524 on the entailed lands (terras vinculadas) she owned there. The chapel later passed to the house of the Heredia family. Beside the chapel stood a sumptuous residence of which not even traces now remain.
