Corujeira

A locality in Tabua parish with an old chapel of the Mother of God, rebuilt in 1767 after floodwaters destroyed it.

In this well-known locality of the parish (freguesia) of Tabua stands an old chantry (capela) with the dedication to the Mãe de Deus (Mother of God); neither the year of its foundation nor the names of its founders are known. Destroyed by the violence of the torrential waters of the stream, it was rebuilt in 1767 on the bank opposite the site of its first construction.

Chronology
  • The Mother of God chapel at Corujeira, Tabua, destroyed by flood, was rebuilt on the opposite bank and inspected for divine service on 9 December 1767.
