Picturesque square at the sítio da Fonte in Monte parish, with a roofed fountain and image of Our Lady of Monte, and a station of the Monte railway.
In the locality (sítio) of Fonte (‘spring’), in the parish (freguesia) of Monte (‘hill’), lies the so-called Largo da Fonte, a spot with a roofed public fountain containing a small image of Our Lady of the Mount (Nossa Senhora do Monte). It is bordered by the track of the Monte Railway (Caminho de Ferro do Monte), and there is a station of the railway there called the Fonte station (Estação da Fonte). It is a very picturesque place, much frequented by visitors to the enchanting resort of Monte, especially since the site was enlarged a few years ago.
