Vila (Porto do Moniz)

A populated locality in the parish of Porto do Moniz, commonly but improperly called 'Vila', which is the seat of the municipality and houses the town hall, other municipal offices and the parish church. It was never formally raised to the status of a vila (town).

An inhabited locality (sítio) of the parish (freguesia) of Porto Moniz (‘Moniz’s harbour’), improperly called Vila (‘town’), but which is the seat of the municipality (concelho) of that name. Here are the town hall and other municipal offices, the parish church, etc. It was never raised to the rank of town (vila). (See Porto Moniz.)
