An inhabited locality (sítio) of the parish (freguesia) of Ponta do Sol (‘point of the sun’), comprising the town (vila) proper and some of its immediate surroundings. Here are the law court, the district-court (comarca) and municipal offices, the parish church and the chapels of St Sebastian (São Sebastião), which belongs to the Municipal Council (Câmara Municipal), and of St Anthony (see the articles headed Ponta do Sol).
