Trigo (Adriano Augusto)
Infantry colonel and civil engineer born in Moncorvo in 1862 who directed Public Works in the Funchal district and wrote on Funchal's lighting, sanitation, port and Madeira's levadas.
He was born in Moncorvo on 13 November 1862 and is an infantry colonel and civil engineer. He has served as section head and as director of Public Works of the district of Funchal (Distrito do Funchal). He contributed to several newspapers in this city, proving himself a writer and polemicist of merit. Among the works he has published, we shall mention the following:

The capital of the archipelago and seat of the principal captaincy, where settlement began; it was made a vila c.1451–52. Its bay, the widest in the archipelago, lies between Ponta do Garajau and Ponta da Cruz and offers sheltered anchorage, though its harbour had never been studied oceanographically. The Elucidário discusses it as a health resort with climate data and records the January 1906 disturbances, the Danish prince's visit in May 1846 and recent volcanic cones in the area.

The Levada da Serra do Faial is the longest state levada on Madeira, running 54 km from the Ribeira Seca in the Faial uplands to Choupana. A branch diverts at Lamaceiros to Porto da Cruz, and Adriano Augusto Trigo published a plan for distributing its water in 1911.
