Loucas (Campo das)
Former name, also Campo de Challons, of a large open ground east of the old Praça Académica in Funchal, now part of the Campo do Almirante Reis, used for military drill.
This name, or that of Campo de Challons (‘Challons square’), was formerly given to a large open ground lying to the east of the old Praça Académica (‘academic’) and now forming part of the Campo do Almirante Reis.
The troops quartered in Funchal frequently held their military exercises there.
