It adjoined the church of the same name and was founded by Gonçalo Anes de Velosa in 1497 for poor clergy. The first Jesuits stayed there before the College (Colégio) was founded. It was visited by the Blessed martyr Friar Inácio de Azevedo. It stood in Rua Direita (‘straight street’), which then ran along the left bank of the Ribeira de Santa Luzia (‘St Lucy’) to near the present Ponte do Torreão (‘turret bridge’).
