Avenue in Funchal named after Dr José António de Almada, formerly the Pontinha road, built around 1874 along the coast south of the Vigias and Lambert quintas.
This is the old Caminho da Pontinha (‘little point’), built around 1874. It runs south of the Quinta of the Lookouts (Vigias) and Quinta Lambert, and to open it some coastal rocks lying next to these quintas had to be destroyed.
