In this locality (sítio) of the parish (freguesia) of São Roque (‘St Roch’) in Funchal stands the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Alegria (Our Lady of Joy), founded in 1609 by Francisco de Abreu. It was incorporated into the Torre Bela house, to which it still belongs today.
