Place street/square Sé Funchal
Funchal street linking Rua Direita with the small square of the Carmo church. It was named after the old city prison that stood at its south end, and it begins at Rua do Monteiro and bounds the Rua dos Medinas. In 1508 a huge til tree stood there, and the street contains the large early-18th-century house of the Oliveira family.
