It is the juice produced by pressing sugarcane. In the distilleries that produce brandy, it is estimated that 30 kilograms of sugarcane are needed to obtain a 'almude' (171) of molasses, and that this 'almude' of molasses produces 5 to 6 quarts of brandy with 26 degrees Cartier. See Sugarcane.
