Memorial in the Angústias cemetery to those killed by German submarine shells at Funchal on 3 December 1916, handed to the municipal council in 1917.
This is the name of the monument erected within the Angústias (‘sorrows’) cemetery to the memory of those barbarously killed by the shells of a German submarine on 3 December 1916. We have already given a brief account of it on page 68 of volume I of this work, to which we refer the reader. It was handed over to the Municipal Council (Câmara Municipal) of this municipality (concelho) on 15 December 1917. See Monuments (Monumentos).
