Teixeira (Diogo)
Diogo Teixeira, son of Tristão Teixeira, was the fourth captain-donatary of Machico; King João III removed him from the captaincy in 1538 because he was mentally incapable. After his death without heirs, the captaincy passed in 1541 to António da Silveira.
He was the son of Tristão Teixeira and the 4th captain-donatary (capitão-donatário) of Machico. Because he was mentally incapable, John III took the captaincy from him in 1538. When he died in 1540, he left no son or any other legitimate heir to succeed him in the captaincy, so in 1541 it was granted to António da Silveira, a former captain of Diu.
