Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), a small woody plant of the mint family widely grown in Madeiran kitchen gardens and used as a culinary seasoning, also known locally as 'cheiros'.

A small woody plant of the Labiatae (mint family), widely grown in Madeiran kitchen gardens. Its sprigs, bearing small aromatic leaves, are much used as a seasoning in cooking. It is also called cheiros.
