The mortuary at the Angústias cemetery in Funchal, built by order of the municipal council in 1900 to hold bodies of the poor and unclaimed.
The mortuary of the Angústias (‘sorrows’) cemetery, where the bodies of poor people without family found by the authorities are laid, was ordered to be built by the Municipal Council (Câmara Municipal) at its session of 11 October 1900.
