Ilhéu de Fora quay

Brief notes on three small quays: that of the Ilhéu de Fora (1870, for lighthouse staff), the Abra quay (1905) and the Caniçal landing stage (1909).

It was built in 1870 for the use of the lighthouse staff. Abra (‘bay’) quay. It was built on the orders of Mr Manuel Bettencourt Sardinha in 1905. Caniçal (‘reed bed’) quay. The small landing place of this parish (freguesia) was built on the orders of the District General Council (Junta Geral) in 1909.
