The Machico quay: a first one built by Public Works from 1869 and finished around 1874, and the present one built by the Junta Geral in 1904–05.
The first quay at Machico was built on the orders of the Public Works Department (Direção das Obras Públicas) under a project dated 9 July 1869, and it was completed around 1874. The present quay was built on the orders of the District General Council (Junta Geral) from 1904 to 1905.
