Desembarcadouro
Machico
Coast west of Machico bay, parish and municipality of Machico
Desembarcadouro is a small rocky projection of the coast west of the beach and bay of Machico. Tradition holds it to be the landing place of Madeira's first discoverers or settlers, and Rui Pais is said to have gone ashore there. The Elucidário proposes raising a commemorative monument (padrão) on the spot.
