Sergeant-major engineer who completed the general map of Madeira begun by Oudinot, directed the Fundoa reservoir works and wrote the 1817 Descripção da ilha da Madeira. Imprisoned as a constitutionalist in 1828, he died in exile in Africa before 1834.
