Alcachofra (Cynara Cardunculus subesp. Scolymus)

A plant from the Compositae family cultivated in some gardens of Madeira. The receptacle of its very large capitula and the fleshy part of the bracts of the involucre are eaten cooked and have a pleasant flavor.
