Notes that besides Tristão Vaz's descendants, craftsmen bore the Vaz surname in early Madeira, such as a goldsmith in 1471.
Besides the descendants of Tristão Vaz Teixeira, there were from the earliest times, says Dr Azevedo, craftsmen bearing this surname: in 1471 one Lopo Vaz was a goldsmith in Funchal.
