The blue shark, the true shark of Madeiran waters, feared and killed by fishermen; its flesh is seldom used.

A fish of the family Carchariidae that occurs in our seas, where it is the true representative of the sharks. It has a bluish back, and for this reason it is known in some countries as the blue shark. Fishermen always try to kill it as soon as they spot it, for it is one of the most fearsome animals in our seas.

Its flesh, of poor quality, is seldom used.
