Our Lady of the Good Hour (chapels)
Original title: Nossa Senhora da Boa Hora (Capelas de)
Chapels of Our Lady of Boa Hora at Torre (Câmara de Lobos), above Funchal (1726) and at Fajã in Arco da Calheta.
The chapel of Nossa Senhora da Boa Hora stands in the locality (sítio) of Torre (‘tower’), in the parish (freguesia) of Câmara de Lobos (‘seals’ den’), and is the property of the Countess of Torre Bela (1921). It was founded by the holder of the entail (morgado) António Correia Bettencourt Berenguer. It had its own private chaplain. A chapel of the same name, ‘above this city’, was built in 1726 by Captain António de Carvalho Drumond and his wife Dona Inácia Micaela Henriques, the deed of endowment being dated 22 May 1726.
In the locality of Fajã (‘coastal flat’), in the parish of Arco da Calheta (‘arc of Calheta’), a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Boa Hora was built, of which only a few ruins remain.
