Lombo de São João

An inhabited locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Ribeira Brava (‘wild river’), which took its name from the chapel there dedicated to São João Baptista (St John the Baptist). The year of its first construction is unknown, but it is known that it was rebuilt in 1750 by Second Lieutenant Tomé João Pimenta, administrator of the entail to which the chapel belonged.
