This is the name of a sheer escarpment which rises from the right bank, near the mouth of the Ribeira do Porco in Boaventura (‘good fortune’), and meets the parish (freguesia) of Arco de São Jorge (‘arc of São Jorge’). This ravine is crossed by a zigzag path that links the two parishes and forms a stretch of the road that runs around Madeira close to its coast.
