Barreirinha

A small beach in Funchal, east of the Santiago fortress and below the parish church of Santa Maria Maior, made easily accessible as a bathing beach by Funchal council in 1939.

A small beach east of the Santiago fortress (Fortaleza de Santiago) and below the parish church of Santa Maria Maior (St Mary Major). It lent itself to use as a bathing beach, and in 1939 the Funchal Council made it easily accessible by improving the site and the path leading to it.
