Shepherd's-needle, an annual umbellifer common in Madeira and Porto Santo, named for its long-beaked fruits.

An annual plant of the family Umbelliferae, frequent in Madeira and on Porto Santo (‘holy harbour’). Its fruits end in a very long point or beak, hence the name agulha (‘needle’) by which the plant is known, mainly on Porto Santo.
