Judge of orphans in Funchal and son-in-law of Valentim de Ornelas e Vasconcelos, he and his wife founded the chapel of São Luís at Diferença, Faial, in 1725. As administrator he rebuilt the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade at Porto da Cruz in 1734.
