José Leite Monteiro

Porto-born jurist, journalist and philosophy teacher at the Funchal lyceum who served as acting civil governor and president of the Funchal municipal council and the Junta Geral. He became Regenerator chief in Madeira in 1901, co-edited the anthology Flores da Madeira, and the Parque Leite Monteiro was named after him in 1895.
