D. Isabel de Abreu, daughter of João Fernandes, was a wealthy widow of Arco da Calheta who was twice abducted by António Gonçalves da Câmara in the sixteenth century. The episode, recorded by the early chroniclers, ended in a forced marriage, a royal inquiry and punishments. She also founded a chapel of Nossa Senhora da Consolação in the early sixteenth century.
