Artillery officer who commanded a garrison company in Madeira and was the first commander of its permanent artillery force (1877–78). He taught drawing at the Funchal lyceum, directed district public works, drew up the 1879–81 project for the new Funchal quay and wrote an improvement plan for the island (1879).
