Madeiran progressive and later republican politician, deputy and civil governor, who was killed in Lisbon in 1918 while being escorted as a political prisoner. A benefactor of Ribeira Brava and the last representative of the Heredia entail, he also founded the Club Naval Madeirense in 1917.
