Carlos I
D. Carlos
d. 1922
king of Portugal · king
King of Portugal who visited Madeira in 1901, an occasion commemorated by a medal; during the visit he went to the Monte church and was entertained at the Quinta do Palheiro do Ferreiro. The Campo de D. Carlos was first named after him. The notes wrongly merge him with Carlos, the last emperor of Austria, who died at Quinta do Monte in 1922, so no death date is given.
