João da Câmara Leme Homem de Vasconcelos, 1st Count of Canavial (1829–1902), was a Funchal physician, medical-school director, civil governor, journalist and industrialist who founded the Companhia Fabril de Açúcar Madeirense. He wrote widely on Madeira wine and sugar, and a bust to him was erected in Funchal in 1922.
